Have you ever been asked to be the notetaker at a meeting, then noticing that you’re the only woman in the room? Of all the internal and external pressures women face, the need to “be nice” by pleasing others is perhaps the most paralyzing. Most people want to be liked, but due to societal expectations, women face a confusing conundrum: In trying to be accepted by colleagues and “not cause trouble”, we often feel like we’re caving into our own sense of integrity.
DRIVEN’s November OfficeHours will take a hard look at this conundrum. We’ll be welcoming Certified Leadership & Executive Coach Juliana Ashley to fill us in on how women can reframe common situations and negotiations to help us work within the parameters of our integrity while still advancing toward our goals. The discussion will include insight on how to set and communicate boundaries, perspective in determining what’s best for you, and remarkable strategies to help you transform “pleasing” others into a win/win situation.
Juliana specializes in the art of negotiations, so send in your questions early. The new skills you’ll come away with can even help you navigate the potential family static at the upcoming Thanksgiving table!
