Moderator Training Session

On Tuesday July 23rd, I attended the Women’s Advancement Compact’s first workshop event. It was a small, yet highly motivated group of 12 who were all very eager to share and enrich their leadership skills.

Two professionals, Stanley Goldstein and Ginny Brown, led the workshop. Stanley is a well-respected leader among corporate professionals, and had many valuable insights, which he has used throughout his career. Ginny, on the other hand, is not from the corporate world, but provided numerous examples and techniques that had each attendee furiously writing down all of her invaluable advice.

The group maintained a good mix of question and discussion throughout the evening with some questions aimed towards corporate situations such as conference calls and in person meetings. Others were more general and applicable to leadership roles in general.

As a college student not starting out in the professional world, I found myself listening to every word and jotting down notes that I know will be useful skills in my everyday life and in my future as well.

The best part of the night, besides the highly intellectual and entertaining training session was that since everyone participated throughout the discussion, when the socializing/networking followed there was a sense of comfort and familiarity among the group; a small community among future Women's Advancement Compact moderators was established.
