An Exciting Transformation: We Are Now DRIVEN Professionals!
….And if you’re reading this, chances are that you’re one too! The presentation room at Dorsey & Whitney was filled with them last Thursday evening, on the 2nd anniversary of our launch, eagerly awaiting Cara Power’s presentation on overcoming workplace fear. But what these folks were also excitedly anticipating was the unveiling of WAC’s new name, which occurred preceding the main presentation.
After a month of careful organization, a Facebook campaign drafting new name ideas, and a final vote by our community members, the apropos moniker DRIVEN Professionals has been officially adopted. Strategically designed by community member Robyn Brooks, and having emerged from an assortment of more than 70 clever name submissions, it proudly communicates what we’re all about, and who is drawn to our community.
Despite this change, our mission remains the same: Supporting the health, well-being and success potential of motivated professionals, with an emphasis on bolstering companies’ women’s initiatives. And if you haven’t noticed, our new name is gender-neutral. This is deliberate, and acknowledges that the advancement of professional women doesn’t happen without the cooperation from and involvement of men.
The word is out about DRIVEN in the media. Link HERE to read our official press release, which goes into detail about the origins of our name change, quoting several individuals who were instrumental in the process.
My thanks and admiration go out to everyone involved in the road to DRIVEN, and to everyone who has helped us get this far. I would like also to extend a special gratitude to all of the men who have supported us from the start….you are profoundly ahead of the curve. Here’s to a long-awaited new beginning. Exciting times are ahead! -Deborah
