Recuperate From The Zoom Boom.
The George Floyd murder of one year ago and the subsequent racial justice reckoning have forever changed our conversation on race. One of the exciting results in the corporate professional arena is the way allyship in the workplace has been put into perspective. Folks are now motivated to be allies of their ethnically/racially diverse colleagues, but the challenge for many remains how to get there. One place to start is to foster the psychological safety necessary for cultivating a 21st century inclusive workplace. If you haven’t yet reviewed it, DRIVEN’s May blog article Embodying the Inclusive Workplace: 3 Principles For Becoming a Driven JEDI lays out how to become the change you want to see, with Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion as the foundation.
One corporate private client of DRIVEN’s recently stepped up and immersed their team in our DE&I program, with enthusiastic results. The enlightened feedback from participants was encouraging, and the majority of commenters were ready to take the discussion to the next level! One participant was astonished at “how common miscommunication can be”. I was heartened to hear a different participant proclaim the workshop “made me more compassionate toward my coworkers”, particularly inspired by the section about “how two people could see a situation very differently”. Someone else responded that the concept of Personal Terroir “is great for mapping out what helps shape our perspectives”, while another had a concise and profound takeaway: “Be mindful of your words and how they can be perceived by someone else with a different perspective.”
We at DRIVEN are committed to this JEDI work. Is your company ready to educate their human capital about being better allies? Learn more HERE, and feel free to sign up for a "discovery conversation".
Looking ahead through June, DRIVEN will continue to guide professionals to become allies in an age of racial awakening. Several additional questions about allyship are answered in DRIVEN’s latest blog article Do You “Stand Under” The Realities of Others?: 3 Simple Exercises to Live in Allyship.
We’ll also be exploring Resilience going forward, as the workforce (who are our clients) is still exhausted from their lives being upended beginning early last year. We’ve finally started to come out of our homes but haven’t had the chance to recuperate after the storm. Organizations have been opting in for DRIVEN programs like “The Ultimate Endurance Marathon: Your Career” to support their employees in building their resilience muscles. Would your staff benefit from a rebound after an exhausting and emotionally charged 15 months? Get more information by emailing us HERE.
Cheers!

Accountants: Help Close The Diversity Gap!
In February, the IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) and the California Society of CPAs issued a joint research study on DE&I in the U.S. accounting profession, revealing a diversity gap. Join SILC (the Sustainability Leadership Investment Council) virtually on June 3rd as they present their findings from the report, with DRIVEN founder Deborah Goldstein as a panelist, among prominent leaders at the IMA and in the accounting arena. You can participate in an open discussion about how you, your organization, and its stakeholders can develop strategies and solutions to foster change. Learn more and register HERE.
Inject Some Confidence.
Confidence is not a gender-specific issue. It's a human issue. That’s why RSM Risk Advisors will be offering their 400 senior associates, supervisors and managers the opportunity to participate in DRIVEN's signature session "Captain Your Career with Confidence" later this month. Participants will learn about the neurochemistry of confidence and how to build the confidence muscle. Would your employees benefit from this kind of professional development? Learn more about DRIVEN workshops HERE.
Come On, Get Happy!
Last week, The Atlantic sponsored a live virtual event called "In Pursuit of Happiness" where science academics and self-help leaders shared ways to build a more meaningful life. This rich program spills over with facts, stories, and examples of how to be happier. And you may be happy to hear that the replay is available HERE. We highly recommend watching the first 30 minutes of the six-hour program at the very least, where Arthur Brooks walks you through a concise and brilliant snapshot of what happiness is, and what it's not.
