Celebrating Women, During A New Challenging Era.

February at DRIVEN was a jam-packed month that we’ll remember for a long time to come. Our blog article, Contributing To DEI During A Time of Racial Awakening, shared the simple steps to becoming an ally to our colleagues of color— something that so many of us are poised to do, but don’t know where to begin.

One crucial ingredient for allyship is an Inclusive Mindset, which requires “Standing Under” another's reality. This is important because when you continue to foster such sentiments as, “It couldn’t really be THAT bad”, not only are you undermining the chances of inclusion, but you’re also missing out on discovering more of the world.

We supplemented the article with a separate lagniappe for deeper insight: Your Resources For Black History Month. Even if you checked it out in early February, you might want to check back in. We’ve been adding additional links to relevant and riveting documentaries, podcasts, interviews, TED Talks and more!

February may have been short, but my ambitious schedule included my coaching session with a leadership team to align their future vision, and a panel discussion to explore the Importance of EQ in Leadership. The month was also filled with great news: One of my coachees landed her dream job, and another coachee was recognized by her organization for her recent growth!

Then, as a result of the bizarre and deadly weather event in Texas and a stressful workshop I delivered (ironically about stress), I determined what DRIVEN’s focus will be looking forward through March: Stress Management!

Turns out, we can all use some stress support, especially working mothers, and now, out-of-work mothers. I can’t begin to imagine the stress felt by the 3 million American women who left the workforce since the arrival of COVID-19. In today’s new DRIVEN blog article, I offer tools to better recognize and manage the stress we all face.

This article is supplemented by a March Lagniappe: Your Women's History Month Resources, which already features multiple links to relevant and essential books discussing women’s history including the struggle of Black American women. We will be adding many more resources to this page each Tuesday throughout the month. So, be sure to check back.

Also in March, I'll be speaking on a distinguished panel discussing Men As Allies to women and our advancement in the workplace, and I’ll be a facilitator for SEEK Safely’s first ever virtual retreat, when we'll take participants through a holistic process of plotting your long-term life aspirations. Curious? Sign up HERE. It's free, and it promises to be a nourishing experience.

Cheers!

We've Figured Out the Formula!

On March 25th, our pal and colleague Genna Garver (partner, Troutman Pepper) will be moderating a panel discussion called Men As Allies. Alex Ehrlich, founder and CEO of Percapita Group, Kenny King, managing director of BNY Mellon, and Scott Peeler, partner at Arent Fox will each share what they've done to support women in their ambitions and challenges, including what's worked and what hasn’t. Deborah will personally round out the discussion wearing her coach's hat. Link HERE to learn more and register.

The Girls of Our World Need YOU.

The NYC Leadership Council of Plan International is hosting an online auction that starts on International Women’s Day (March 8th) and continues through the end of March. The auction will support a dormitory for girls being built in Zimbabwe as part of the Graduation Project, which protects vulnerable girls from the predatory predicaments they face in acquiring an education. Visit Plan USA’s auction page on Facebook to contribute to the cause.

February Was “Forbes Month” at DRIVEN!

Deborah Goldstein is on an advice-sharing tear! She was published on Forbes.com three times last month, including one long-form article and two Forbes Coaches Council expert panel responses. Read her article HERE and find out how to “read your boss and then lead your boss”. Then, gain perspective from 14 seasoned coaches about how to stay in-touch with your team during this era of no in-person meetings. And finally, choose from 15 different possibilities to take first steps for building a sustainable organization.
