Discover Your Emotional Clarity Essentials!
September can be thought of as a time of renewal. Back-to-school and the annual transformation to Autumn intertwine to an inflection point— an opportunity for perspective. Post-Labor Day realignment is baked into traditional business planning and program releases. Naturally, DRIVEN took the opportunity to inspire you in September with some pandemic-attuned prompts as you touched back with your team.
Can you believe we’ve been working remotely for over 6 months, with family underfoot? And brace yourself, friends: Indicators suggest we’re facing another 12 months or more of this sort of semi-isolation. So, it’s crucial to determine now how your team and other contacts have been adapting and managing. Some are clearly thriving with virtual happy hours and coffee meetings; others are silently suffering, as they suck it up and present as if nothing has changed while their world crumbles beyond that cute little box of workspace their webcam reveals to you.
If you haven’t yet used my 8 handy prompts to inspire team conversation, grab them now! Not only are these questions evergreen, they’re multi-purpose (You can use them to launch family conversations, too.) They’ve even been useful for self-reflection. My coaching clients have also been journaling using these questions as guidelines. The exercise has proven revealing, even for me! I’d recognized at the 6-month mark of COVID-19 restrictions that I was heading toward burnout. And once I shared my state, others started admitting the same. It has inspired me to make Building Emotional Resilience the topic of DRIVEN's October blog article and weekly messages.
To define Emotional Resilience, consider this question: Do you frequently find yourself feeling irritable, impatient, frustrated, judgmental or anxious? If yes, by committing to self-regulation practices you will start feeling these emotions less acutely. They will be reduced to nuisances instead of driving you toward the cliff of overwhelm. This is Emotional Resilience in practice, and it will leave you in a state of excitement and wonder more often.
Start with today’s blog release and get a greater sense of the common blind spots that lead you to emotional depletion. What resonates with you? Then, look forward to tidbits in your inbox each week this month to build a specific emotional muscle set. We’re also here to support you as you cheer yourself on in your efforts. Download Goldie’s Handy Habit Tracker to assist in documenting your progress as you build those muscles!
Cheers!
