How Can You Live Your Best Life?
Ahhh! October. The shorter days, the chilly nights. In embracing this time as one of finding balance during Libra (thank you Keila and yoga teacher Constance), I’m excited most about soups on the stove. At the same time, I’m sad that kayaking opportunities are becoming scarce. But that’s a blessing in disguise, as I recover from an arm injury. I’m awkwardly leveraging neuroplasticity to heal, and having written about it in DRIVEN's October blog article. Applying neuroplasticity sure isn’t as easy as it seems!
Looking back on September, there’s so much still percolating in me after attending a 4-day virtual retreat at The Omega Institute. Don Miguel Ruiz and his sons provided 16 hours’ worth of texture, nuance and context to support the legendary book The Four Agreements. This book is dense with wisdom, and I’m enjoying the exploration of how these seemingly simple agreements apply to my life and align with Conversational Intelligence®.
DRIVEN to Wellness continues to be DRIVEN’s programming darling, as organizations are motivated to support employee health. Of course, I’m ecstatic to receive feedback like:
“The content was great and easily digestible. I particularly liked being challenged to put some of the takeaways into action right away! It is easy to make 'commitments', but when you try it right away... it feels more doable."
Speaking of ecstatic, I’m also in celebration mode! As the years continue on, a clean bill of health is never a sure thing. My first visit to my new GP was most certainly praiseworthy; they spent over an hour asking copious questions and truly listening. After reviewing the usual test results as “all is good”, instead of moving on to the next thing, I decided to commemorate the moment wherein NOTHING happened! I’ve also joined the ranks of ICF certified coaches as of September 23rd. It was quite a process, and I’m grateful to the many amazing coaches who supported me during this journey.
Looking ahead through October, DRIVEN is rolling out a new offering! Over the summer I became certified in a Values coaching protocol. Once we understand the bookends of our values and life aspirations, we can fill in the middle to live our best lives. True Point’s values assessment is priceless for individual and team development. I’ve been incorporating this assessment into my coaching, and clients have been responding enthusiastically. If you’re interested in exploring your values, check out details here.
To round out this celebratory check-in, I would be inauthentic if I didn’t declare the sadness I carry heavily in my heart every October since 2009. It was then I lost a light in my life when my dear friend Kirby Brown died at the hands of an irresponsible self-help practitioner. If you consider yourself a student of life, please learn how to SEEK Safely.
Cheers!
