DRIVEN Newsletter Jan 3, 2023

Ten Years Out.

Creating this “Month-in-Review” was extra special, as it was a three-fer. I began with my customary monthly reflection, followed by a traditional Year-in-Review cadence:

• Reflect on my alignment with my values & aspirations, habits, practices and rituals.

 • Consider my 2022 Word of the Year and what I learned from a deeper look at Cadence

 • Look at what to “keep, adapt, or trash” in 2023.

What makes this new year extraordinary for me is that I’ve begun reflecting on the past decade. That’s because DRIVEN is now marking 10 years in existence!

That’s right. What was hatched as an innovative idea to create a network of motivated NYC professionals and provide for them professional growth via “Corporate Emotional Intelligence” education, networking opportunities, and self-empowerment, has now reached the 10-year mark!

Idyllic as that seems, we look unrecognizable when considering the original vision. And it has been at times grueling, painful, exhausting and erratic. We’ve pivoted so many times, it felt dizzying. But I’m finally embracing the fact that life, by definition, requires change. And thanks to my commitment to the growth mindset and consistent reflection, I am confident that we’ll continue to add value to those we serve.

Here’s an example: In December, I challenged myself to make the 60 minutes my clients invest in coaching the most important hour of their work week. In this spirit, I’m inviting those who are motivated to maximize their coaching ROI to try Marco Polo as a way to prep for our sessions.

Using this asynchronous tool will minimize time devoted to a traditional ‘status update’ at the beginning of a session— a practice which eats away valuable discovery time.

Another delightful December takeaway was reframing fitness as Movement. One of my masterminds is devouring, embracing and embodying this concept introduced by The Seven Circles

Think about it. “Fitness” can feel exclusionary, as some of us are not fit. The concept of “movement” widens the lens to embrace daily tasks and activities. We have the opportunity to use our bodies….and feel better as an outcome.

Looking forward, I’m getting excited about 2023. My creativity has been unleashed while massaging the DRIVEN to Wellness series and Intentional Productivity programs into the holistic Co-Create Cultural initiative I was involved with in ‘22.

To feed my spiritual wellbeing, I’ve cobbled together a mini-virtual retreat using up remaining credits from Kripalu. I’m also co-creating a program with my She-Pack about Radical Self-Acceptance.

Amongst other smart and inspiring 2023 goals will be to use the tool of reflection to recognize and celebrate what DRIVEN Professionals have discovered since 2013. Our hope is that you’ll benefit vicariously from our findings, and are creating SMART and inspiring goals for yourself, too. Feel free to share them by hitting “Reply” to this emailing.

And finally, I have a Word of the Year going forward for 2023. Discover it HERE, and take it with you on your journey through a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

Cheers!

-Deborah Goldstein

A Decade in the Making.

Did you just discover by reading the Dec. 20th edition of our weekly message that DRIVEN is reflecting on 10 years in existence? To learn a bit more about how DRIVEN evolved to focus on coaching with a secondary devotion to culture-building and wellness, listen to this episode of the podcast Ready Yet?! with Erin Marcus, where DRIVEN founder Deborah Goldstein is interviewed by Erin on the topic.

Your New Guide to Living.

Beware! If you're like us, and many network colleagues, The Seven Circles may become the object of your obsession. This dimensional book is a modern-day story of Indigenous Americans living respectfully of generational lore, wisdom, traditions and spirituality while incorporating these practices into their lives as entrepreneurs and parents. The grace with which they interweave movement, land, community, ceremony, sacred space, sleep and food into Intentional Productivity's exploration of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual energy is profound. Acquire this treasure and life-guide HERE.

DRIVEN on Forbes!

In one of our most compelling Wellness at Work Forbes articles, my writing partner Ute Franzen-Waschke shares ideas to leverage the opportunities afforded us by hybrid work. She helps us consider which work is best done in the workplace vs off-site as well as which tasks and activities are best suited for solo work vs group think. Some of the findings honestly surprised us! If you'd like to recreate WOWs (Ways of Working) with your team to take advantage of individual circadian rhythms and group efficiency, invest 4 minutes in this compelling read.
